Meetings are held on the third Thursday of each month at the Hawley Memorial Hall, Blackwater from 13:30 to 15:30. We make a nominal 50p entrance fee to cover our costs including tea and biscuits after the proceedings.
We have arranged an interesting mix of speakers for this year as shown below. Further details will be posted here and in the Newsletters when available.

The 2008 Programme:
17 January - Mr Hugh Lambert with a talk entitled “Serve to Lead - a History of the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst”
21 February - Major (Ret’d) Paul Whittle TD with a talk entitled “Toy Train to the Clouds”. An account of the British-built railway that climbs 7,000 feet to Darjeeling and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. One of the world’s great railway journeys
20 March - Mrs K Bradford with with a talk entitled “Making the Most of Your Memory” Part of the Meeting will be devoted to the AGM - see the February Newsletter for more details on this important event
17 April - Mrs Catherine Butcher with a talk entitled “Daughter of the Regiment” about her experiences when she lived with her mother in Singapore during the first half of WW2
15 May - Mrs Jean Haynes will tell us about “The Life of a Lady Bailiff”. Jean Haynes has been a Certificated Bailiff, acting mainly for Customs and Excise for over 15 years and speaks from a different point of view on what is an interesting and sometimes humorous subject
19 June - Mr Peter Durrant with with a talk about the “History and Humour of Fleet Street” - that centre of hot metal type before new technology forced the press to move out to docklands
17 July - Mr Keith Harmon on the subject of “Just Divine (Dowsing)”. Keith is an expert in the subject having been involved for over 30 years and will show us that dowsing is a very useful and easily learnt skill. He is a registered dowsing tutor and Council member of the British Society of Dowsers
21 August - Garden Party at 17 Green Lane, Blackwater kindly hosted by Blanche and Eric Burrell. Please bring a small plate of summer food to share plus a chair. Punch (alcoholic and non-alcoholic) will be provided plus a raffle.
18 September- Mrs Pauline Giles with a talk entitled “Smoke and Mirrors”. No details of the talk are available yet but she is reputed to be a very interesting and entertaining speaker
16 October - Mr Ted Fox will tell us about “My Life in Agriculture”
20 November - Mr Nick Channer with a talk entitled “Classic walks in Hampshire and the New Forest”, Nick is a Freelance journalist, author and photographer and a full-time writer since 1993 and published author of over 40 books, mainly travel and walking guides. He has made numerous television appearances and radio broadcasts over many years.
18 December - Christmas Party at Hawley Memorial Hall, Blackwater. Please bring a small plate of festive food. Punch will be provided. There will be a special raffle, and displays of Line Dancing and Arts and Crafts. Group Leaders are invited to bring along any photographs or other exhibits which illustrate what their groups have been doing during the year

To find The Hawley Memorial Hall, turn off A30 on B3272 Hawley Road. After ½ mile turn right at the traffic lights into Fernhill Road. After 100 yards turn right into the Memorial Hall. The U3A meets in the older hall at the end of the road and there is an extensive car park is behind the hall.
